Ovidiu and Catalina - Owners
Calimani Equestrian Centre was first created out of Ovidiu’s passion and dedication for horses and nature. Having already been involved and owning a business in the travel industry (founder of Transair Agency with all its departments) – this was the obvious next step. The first years were quite difficult, as he could not find real good horsemen with language and guiding skills.
In the beginning he had to do everything on his own: the guiding, the hosting, being helped of course by his wife Catalina – who was the coordinator for the kitchen and cleaning staff. They ran the centre together, doing all the administrative work, even if in the meantime, Ovidiu had a growing business to attend to back home and Catalina was a full-time MD radiologist.
At the present the riding centre has completed its team with all the members presented below.
We now have 17 horses, most of them Romanian Sport Horses – a local breed descending from the anglo-arabians and a few local crossbreeds which we have adopted along the way, each of them with their fascinating story… So are the dogs at the centre who were adopted by Catalina – our most canine passionate colleague – and who do a very good job by keeping away the nosy wild animals.
Ovidiu does not guide groups anymore, as he had to continue managing Transair Agency, but he is keen on meeting every new guest and riding along with the group whenever he can.

Relu - Guide
Relu was born in 1955. He is our French and English speaking guide. In 1999 he graduated from the 6 months course from Recloses (Fontainebleu) with the famous “maître randoneur” Marc Lhotka.
He was the first certified horse riding guide in Romania!
Relu is not only a guide, but a true asset for our centre, as he is also an amateur musician and a cook, who likes to indulge the guests and surprise them with his hobbies…

One of them was the Eventing World Championship at Lion D’Anger, for a couple of times.
Marius is a very nice man, patient and very good to the horses. He knows horses very well, as they have been his life for more than 17 years!
