A rare encounter
The
forest always manages to surprise us. There is always something happening on or
around our Equestrian Centre. Few days ago, on a beautifull morning, we were thrilled to discover
near our pond a very rare and shy creature: an Ermine (Mustela Erminea),
otherwise
known as Stoat or Short-tailed Weasel…a more distant relative of the
weasel. The delicate creature had still its winter white fur, a perfect camouflage for
Calimani Mountains’ long. She was just enjoying the morning rays of sun…and perhaps
few fishes from our pond. We were so much pleased as this was our first
encounter with a wild ermine. This gives us one more reason to care about wild
life. We only had time to take
few pictures, as the little shy ermine was lost into the woods long before we
could get a bit closer to the spot we’ve seen her. We only hope to
see it again…
